Movie Puzzle

Posted in Links at 11:42 pm by Sam

This is a neat movie puzzle. It’s a painting that contains pictorial representations of the titles of 50 “dark” movies, mostly horror movies but also a couple of dark thrillers. Click on a clue to submit a guess. Enter the title. If it’s right, the entry box will turn green, and the clue will become darkened. Some are easy. Some are hard.

    It’s kinda neat, but the scrolling’s a bit wonky. I managed to get one before I got overpowered by irritation, though; maybe I’ll go back to it later. :-}

Try the zoom in/out controls, D. They made it much less aggravating to do it on my teeny tiny monitor at home.

My god, it’s like Hieronymus Bosch decided to go into web design.

I can’t get the stoopid woman with the two kids and the friggin’ black arch. GAH!

siochembio: As for the first, the two kids are unimportant, except that it helps identify the role of the woman. The answer is a pun, but think of the classics.

As for the second, you’ve got one of the words already.

I can NOT figure out what those 2 guys(?) on the stairway are - everything else is good. Any clues?

Gharlane: That one’s not well drawn, I don’t think. The idea is, they’re sulking over some irreconcilable difference and aren’t talking to each other anymore.

Among the ones I haven’t figured out yet (I’m kind of a movie idiot) are..

    1. Death in a fence.
    2. Guys with a map.
    3. Woman with kids.
    4. Bug in a bottle.
    5. Woman with water.
    6. Pumpkinhead dude.
    7. Guys on the steps.
    8. Picture of Texas.
    9. Basket Head Guy
    10. The Knife
    11. The Monkies
    12. The Wolves.
    13. And the guy all the way down in the lower right corner who’s got a weird thing that I don’t even have a GUESS for what it is instead of a head.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    1. It’s an area where death is.
    2. If the boys need a map, what does that make them?
    3. If she has kids, what does that make her?
    4. What kind of bug? And what else is there?
    5. What color is the water?
    6. LOL. Let’s just say you’re on the right track.
    7. The guys on the steps presumably had some irreconciable difference. Now they’re sulking and not talking to each other anymore.
    8. A picture of Texas that’s been….
    9. What are the baskets made out of?
    10. A knife is a…?
    11. How many are there?
    12. What are they doing?
    13. That would be an eraser.

If any one could lend some assistance, i woul be very grateful.

    I am stumped on:
    1. The fish that is hovering below the screaming person.
    2. The fish in the black pond in the bottom left-hand corner.
    3. The green M&M in the dress on the steps.
    4. The arch in the corner.
    5. The mountain/cave in the distance.

    Thanks, Nevermore

    1. What kind of fish is it?
    2. It’s not a fish, exactly, nor is it quite a pond. But you’ve got one piece of it right.
    3. Describe the material.
    4. The arch isn’t so important as what’s in it.
    5. Not sure which one you mean. There’s the big mountain in the back center, but no cave. There are the eyes on the slope further down. There are the buildings even further down than that. Which one do you mean?

The mountain. I thought that there might be a cave just below it and a little to the right. The orange coloured smear across the side of the hill.

    Thanks, otherwise.
