What do you think?
For me, the trailer confirms one thing I already knew, and tells me one thing I didn’t. What I already knew was that the second film was missing the Geoffrey Rush character, so I’m ecstatic that he’s back to ham it up some more. The thing I didn’t know is just how perfect and at home Chow Yun-Fat would look in this world. He absolutely belongs here.

We all have opinions about popular actors. Do we concur with their acclaim, or do we consider them overrated? We just love judging people for some reason, and our opinions about the talents of popular stars (or lack thereof) form early. Actors can fall from our graces, but it’s rare for somebody we dislike to be redeemed. For Episode 25, however, Stephen and I each came up with six performers that we initially hated (or at least disliked) but that we eventually came to admire and enjoy. Note that our ordering isn’t about how much we ultimately came to like these performers, but by the degree of change of our opinions.
What performers do you like that turned you off at first?
As always, we recommend listening to the episode before reading further.

Here’s another one from the Billy Wilder segment of Episode 24. What particular times were we talking about? The times at the time. Clarity is a virtue.

With the DVD release of Rocky Balboa coming up next Tuesday, I thought it would be fun to take a look at the late 1920s’ perspective of boxing films — not movies about boxing, but actual filmed boxing matches. They were actually quite controversial at the time.
And just to drive home the point of how the times have changed, we’ll also take a look at how exhibiting movies on Sundays was also controversial.

For Episode 24, our Top 6 list is about the best movies that take place on an airplane, or are about airplanes, or at least have a memorable scene involving airplanes. Like trains, in our Top 6 Train Movies list, the confined, moving, and airborne setting of an airplane can be an exciting place to set a story.
What are your own favorite plane movies?
As always, we recommend listening to the episode before reading further.

I watched Man On Fire this weekend. It had its moments, but it could’ve been a whole lot better. In particular, it could have been a whole lot better if it had been directed by somebody better than Tony Scott. Is there anybody who actually likes this guy?
